Writer Obruchev Biography
He discovered a number of ridges in the Nanesh mountains, Daurian and Borshchovaya ridges, studied the Baisan Highlands. The main works are the geological structure of Siberia and its minerals, tectonics, neotectonics, permafrost. He was approved by the first full -time geologist of Siberia. The result of many years of research was fundamental work - the “History of Geological Research of Siberia” in five volumes by its name named many geographical objects - a mountain ridge in Tuva, a number of mountains, an oasis in Antarctica, a mineral source.
There is also the Mineral "Voruchevit". His father, Afanasy Aleksandrovich, was a military man, so with the crossings of the Voruchev family “lucky”. Having visited many western regions of the Russian Empire, the family finally settled in Vilna, but every summer Volodya, his brothers and sisters in the family had three boys and three girls, sent to the estate of his grandfather-p.
Kleptenino Tver province, located near Rzhev in a picturesque corner. Actually, Vladimir Afanasevich Voruchev, the second child in the family, was born here. Then he lived up to three years. The upbringing of children in the family was mainly engaged in the mother - Polina Karlovna - German by nationality, the daughter of Lutheran pastor. The main emphasis was on the conviction and strict observance of order and respect for parents.
Two such contradictory character traits got along in the boy - diligence, perseverance and stubbornness. This rare combination never prevented him from walking through life. Excellent assessments in the real school, where he went only because it was not necessary to learn stupid, in his opinion, “dead tongues” - Latin and Greek, helped him to easily enter the St. Petersburg Mining Institute in the year.
Why in Mountain? Yes, because Obruchev, applying the “price - quality” indicator to the situation, calculated for sure. On the one hand, a poor family, after his father’s illness, was going through far from the best times. On the other hand, the young man thus realized the dream of childhood - a passion for traveling, vaccinated by the books of Jules Verne and Fenimore Cooper, writers, whom he revered until the end of his life.
The Mountain Institute, together with addiction to writing and necessary knowledge, gave Voruchev the main thing - the goal in choosing a profession. And in the last year, Voruchev again showed his stubbornness and energy. At the institute, he even had an unusual nickname “Bomb” for his explosive energy and impulsiveness. The fact is that the institute issued two specialties: “miners” and “breeders”.
The former were sent to work in the cop and mines, the second - engineers to mountain factories. Both the first and latter received a decent salary, a place in society and a calm satisfying life. Maybe Volodya would have become one of them if a new teacher, a famous traveler Ivan Vasilievich Mushkutov, did not appear in the IV year. His interesting, practical lectures, often held not in the audience, but in the vicinity of the city, and besides, attention to Voruchev and his comrade Bogdanovich, could not but affect the choice of the life path of the two best students of the course.
That is why Obruchev’s stubbornness to be other than a geologist, namely, to specialize in the regions of Central Asia, caused surprise among the institute’s rector. At that time in Russia there were only ... seven! Geology did not seem to be a promising area and therefore the government had the attitude to it ... Yes, frankly, there was nothing at all. The stubborn Vladimir Voruchev firmly decides to exchange the quiet of the factory office and the comfort of a small apartment for dusty clothing, dirt, off -road and romance of travel of inherent paths and mountain ranges.
And Obruchev achieves his own. The teacher and friend Ivan Vasilievich Mushkutov, who sent Voruchev and Bogdanovich immediately after graduating from an educational institution in the first expedition to Karakum, helped him in this. In the summer of the year, two comrades were heading to Turkmenistan, where the construction of the railway to Samarkand was carried out, for which the steel path will have to cross the southeastern part of the Karakuma desert.
Gented specialists were appointed “graduate students” in the construction of the road, issued money and sent to the town of Kyzyl-Arvat. In his student years, Volodya began to write poetry; Many subsequently dedicated to his love - Lisa. The first story “The Sea is noise” appeared during the holidays after the 2nd year in the newspaper “Son of the Fatherland” in June. He liked to compose, especially since Stasyulevich himself, the editor of the substantial magazine "Bulletin of Europe" to read his poetry urgently advised not to abandon literary searches.
In years, his stories and essays were printed in St. Petersburg newspapers. Obruchev even once decided to abandon the Miner Institute for the sake of literature, and if the muskets had not appeared in it, maybe it would be so. He just returned from his first expedition, in February he marries Lisa - Elizabeth Isaacievna Lurie, and they have a child. Vladimir writes his first report on the expedition, after which he fell in love with the dull desert landscapes of Central Asia for life.He did not know that, having done three expeditions to the Trans -Caspian Territory, he would once again see this area only after many decades.
He goes to work in Siberia with his wife and baby. In Irkutsk, a regular position of a geologist at the mining management was opened and he had the opportunity to occupy it. It was at that time, after the first expeditions in the vicinity, Rujechev begins the work that he led all his life and completed as an academician. After the publication of a series of articles on his studies of the Trans -Caspian region, he receives several awards and is elected a full member of the Russian Geographical Society.
And after a large two -year trip - as a geologist to China and Southern Tibet, as part of a large scientific expedition, a total of 13 kilometers was passed, Roychev already becomes quite famous in the scientific world of Russia. By the beginning of the twentieth century, Obruchev approached, having a dozen published works in his baggage, the place of the teacher of geology at the Tomsk Technological Institute, the reputation of the famous traveler and researcher of Siberia, Central Asia and China.
In the vague years of the beginning of the century, V. Obruchev under the pseudonym “Sh. The ruff "" Shersh "-in French," looking "in a local newspaper began to publish daring feuilletons and articles directed against the then leadership of Tomsk and the Technological Institute. This fact became known, which was one of the reasons for the dismissal of Obruchev from the institute.
After the resignation, he leaves for Moscow, where the family could live rather to his pension in rubles. It is not the name of the opportunity to participate in expeditions, Vladimir Afanasevich begins to put in order his richest material accumulated over the previous quarter century. He writes a lot of articles, works, books on geology. By the beginning of the First World War, one and a half hundreds of his works in the form of monographs, articles and cards, published in various magazines, scientists and Izvestia of various institutions, were released.
In the year, Obruchev in the journal "Nature" begins to publish popular science articles on geology designed for a mass reader. With the help of these essays, he wants to attract young people to the romance of his beloved profession. And then he begins to write two of his science fiction novel “The Earth of Sannikov” and “Plutonia”, which were published a decade later.
The entertaining story of the French science fiction writer was based on complete absurdities from a scientific point of view. Vladimir Afanasevich decides to write a book for young people on the same basis, but without free assumptions. The author himself did not believe in the hypothesis of empty land, but his second fantastic novel “The Earth of Sannikov” was based on another scientific hypothesis, which seemed to Voruchev real.
Then many argued whether the land or floating island saw Yakov Sannikov in the Arctic Ocean, and after it Eduard Toll. We are talking about the disappearing polar islands, scientists came to the conclusion that they consist of fossil ice, slightly covered with sand. In years, Vladimir Afanasevich began to write, and the remaining unfinished, utopian story “Thermal Mine”, which takes place at the beginning of the twentieth century in St.
Petersburg and in the “extraterritorial” city of the serene, located on the Russian-Chinese-Korean border. In addition to geological and geographical works, Obruchev wrote the story “Journey into the past and future”, which he wanted to continue the “time of the time” of Wells. And on his fantastic story “The Coral Island”, Obruchev worked in the evenings in Sverdlovsk, where some Moscow scientists were evacuated during the war.
Almost all of his fantastic works of small form were published in the collection “Travel to the past and future” after his death among the manuscripts also found the psychologically-household novel “The Lick Multi-Front”, the unrelated novel “Natasha”, the play from the Greek life “The island of Blessed”, written under the influence of Meterlink, the story “On the Pillars” was published only at the end of X in the book “Behind the Secrets of Pluto”, several Stories, as well as to stories, sketches of stories, plans for plays, heads of conceived novels.
In the Soviet period, V. Obruchev, due to advanced age, traveled little, paying special attention to the publications of the richest scientific material he collected over the previous years. In addition, he begins to reap fame from the work of his whole life. Already in the year in Kharkov he was assigned the degree of Doctor of Sciences “Honoris Casa”, that is, without defending the dissertation.
He becomes the director of the Geological Institute, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Geological Society, an honorary member of the Hamburg Geographical Society. In the same year, he forever refuses teaching. Vladimir Afanasevich Voruchev died in the year, being a famous world -famous scientist who contributed to geology, paleontology, and other related sciences.
And for the boys, he was, first of all, the author of two fascinating novels, entering the treasury of Soviet science fiction. An interesting fact.As his son considered, Obruchev wrote more than 70 volumes in his entire long life! His three sons followed the footsteps of his father: one of them became a zoologist and geographer, the second paleontologist, and the third is Sergey - a geologist, who became by no means known with his father with his name, the opening of the grand ridge of Chernsky, the opening of the pole of the cold of the Northern Hemisphere, the Tungusky Carbonate Basin.
Sons also inherited literary abilities and attraction to foreign languages. For example, Sergey took possession of 11 languages, including such as Latin and Esperanto. The wives and children of the sons V. Obruchev, the other numerous relatives of the academician, are also engaged in natural sciences.
