Childhood and youth took place in the village of Onokhoy, Zaigraevsky district. After graduating from the Faculty of Geological Faculty of Irkutsk University, he worked in the North Baikal exploration expedition and in the research sector of Kyiv University. He made his debut in the second book of the Baikal magazine for the year the story “Step of Perfection”, in the fourth book of the magazine, his story “El Canno” was published in the same year.

These works attracted the attention of readers, and the honorary title of the initiator of the new genre for Buryat literature-the scientific and phantastic story was fixed for V. Mitypov. The next book of Vladimir Mityipov saw the light only in the year - it was the novel “Inspector of the Golden Taiga”, written in the historical and adventure genre. The “Geological Poem” published in the year caused an ambiguous reaction. The new facets of the writer's creative capabilities were opened by his work in the field of drama. On the stage of the Republican Russian Drama Theater of Buryatia, the play “Inspector of the Golden Taiga”, based on the novel, was made with great success.

And before that, Buryat television showed the audience a three -part television movie based on the novel by J. Tumunov “The steppe woke up”, the script of which was written by a recognized translator into Russian of the works of Buryat writers. The writer's works are translated into English, French, German, Mongol, Chinese, Japanese, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish, Czech, Serbian, Croatian languages.

Conducts active public work. He heads the Buryat Association of victims of political repression, the department of the all -Russian public charitable organization of pensioners and disabled people "Russian Association of Victims of Political Repressions." Currently lives in Ulan-Ude. According to his own admission, the timelessness of the x years repelled him to take up the pen, and now he does not write anything.
