Yuri Mogutin biography

This book, like the author, has a difficult fate. She, let's say, is very long -awaited. His past book “I discovered ...” was published in the year. More than twenty years ago. And approximately at the same time, Yuri Nikolaevich survived the painful amputation of the eye and for several years the serious problems with vision had completely blinded. The poet himself admits that the shock that he experienced at that moment, “when the world has narrowed to the remaining half -glued eyes” caused a real storm in his mind - “the lines climbed with tripled force”, “internal vision” was aggravated to the limit.

It was the poems written in these dramatic years, and compiled the book just published “I was nobody and lived anywhere ...”. During these years, the poet, who has still been located - he is still alive, in fact, locked up and in complete darkness, as never before he lived with poems, so the specific gravity of the creative necessity, uncompromisingness of what he wrote in e is extremely.

Yuri Mogutin biography

Meanwhile, the shocks in the fate of the poet, who began his life under German bombing, subjected to all possible troubles, as a “member of the family of the enemy of the people”, who lived for many years in Siberia, etc. This is described in an extensive autobiographical preface to a new book, in places turning into a frank diary. Perhaps not a single reader, if he has a heart, this “prosaic” introduction will not leave indifferent ...

By the way, the famous Yuri Kuznetsov, who in the last years of his life printed Mogutin in “Our Contemporary”, as no one else, often several of the teems a year, considered him the best Moscow poet after himself, of course and approvingly said: “Well, you, the namesake, and gloomy, even gloomy than me ...”. In the year, Mogutina was celebrated by the Gorky Literary Prize. Olesya Nikolaev represented him at the ceremony.

Here is what she said then: “... the fate of this poet completely coincides with the history of our country. We gave this prize not for numerous books that could already be released with this wonderful poet, but for magazine publications. This is now the fate of the poets. Nobody pays money for verses, no one offers to publish it. Poetry is in public contempt.

When our jury considered poems sent to the competition from many poems, there were simply magazine collections among these books. However, the currents of genuine poetry emanated from these collections, they had a living soul - suffering, vulnerable, blessed - which found its expression in the word, and this soul touched tears. And almost unanimously, Yuri Mogutin won us in this competition.

” There were ten more years since then. To the summer anniversary, I could seem to have decided to publish his book in some Orthodox publishing house Viktor Ivanovich Kalugin. But he soon suffered trouble and he died a couple of years later. The finished book that was supposed to be called “candle in the wind” and include, in addition to the poems of recent years, the chosen works from all past poetry books of Mogutin have not come out ...

Meanwhile, all these years Yuri Nikolaevich constantly wrote new verses, despite the strokes experienced. And now, the flight was noted in Litgazet and in “Litro”, but there is still no book ... And then he decided on the “grave” savings a book of poems - the best memory than a beautiful tombstone to release a large volume of not elected, but accumulated over the past twenty years of only new verses.

It is precisely those for which he was awarded to the Gorky Prize, as well as those that came out later. Now Yuri Nikolaevich is worried that this book, on which he has adventurely spent the last money, is not needed.
